parrot 发布令人振奋的消息

继一周前BBC 和 activestate 两家公司高调赞助parrot项目后, 昨天在parrot峰会上又有好消息.
预计2009 年3月 将发布parrot 1.0版本.令人高兴的是在google这次主动提出负责这次峰会的筹办工作.

Thoughts on organizing from Pm:

Based on an irc discussion with particle, I'm proposing that we perhaps organize the events according to a modified/miniature "unconference" or "open space" style. (For those who aren't familiar with these terms, I suggest http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open-space_meeting and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unconference as starting points.)

Essentially, the schedule above breaks the two days into four meeting "sessions". I propose that we use the initial part of each meeting session to update the list of topics/activities we'd like to see addressed before the summit concludes, and to build a consensus for the specific items we'll cover within that specific session. (There's already a list of agenda topic ideas.) Perhaps we should also give ourselves a time limit for each topic, and if time expires on a topic that we want to discuss further we re-list that topic as a candidate for a later session. (Time limits help us keep things moving and that we don't accidentally leave other important topics without some attention.)

Given the relatively small number of participants at the summit, I'm expecting we'll do much of the discussion as one large group, only occasionally breaking into smaller groups when it's clear that there are two or more desired topics that can be easily handled by disjoint groups (or groups where people can freely move between them as their interest dictates). Perhaps we just want to dedicate a small amount of time for "open" sessions to cover topics that don't appear to be of interest to the whole group (although lunch could potentially serve this purpose as well).

I think we can also declare that the summit organizers (particle, allison) can invoke dictatorial powers for any topic or activity that they feel must be addressed.

Anyway, these are just some ideas I had for how we might organize things, and I'm not at all disappointed if they're rejected. Since I didn't see much else in the way of a formal schedule I thought I'd offer this.

能冒昧的问一声么，parrot是什么，到parrot.org上看了一下，没看出个所以然来？

给 Perl 6 及其他一些语言准备的虚拟机

我觉得，大多数时候，XXX 是什么这样的问题，根本就不应该由人类来回答。

对不起，可能我问得不太明确，我是想请教一下parrot对perl有哪些重大的意义，为什么前辈们都这么兴奋。。。。

Perl 的下一代版本，也就是划时代的一个新版本，叫做 Perl6，是计划运行在 Parrot 上的，
虽然 Perl6 的开发一直在进行，目前也有了许多成果，但是作为最最最基础的运行平台 Parrot 却一直进展缓慢，
不过今年 Perl6/Parrot 的好消息越来越多，以至于现在 Parrot 总算有了明确的发布计划，
确实称得上是“令人振奋的好消息”。

顺便说一句，Parrot 不光可以运行 Perl6，它可以或者计划可以运行许多种不同的语言，比如 Python，PHP 等等。
