Fedora8 vmtools的安装

所用vmware station6,可是在vm->install vmware vmtools时提示 you cann't insstall the vmware tools package until the guest operating system is running .if you guest operatingsystem is not running ,choose cancel and install the vmware tools package later.
这到底是怎么回事啊，我在网上差了很多资料，有说什么由于vm6是简化版的原因，可是我还是不知道怎么解决，请高手指点，我已经苦恼了好几天了
