I have successfully installed the oracle9i  on my red hat linux 7.2 follows that article ,but when I use command sqlplus, some error appeard. It was shown as followed:
[oracle@remotemcse oracle] $ sqlplus
SQL*Plus: Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production on Sun Feb 24 16:54:07 2002

enter user-name:system
Enter password:
ERROR:
ORA-0.1034:ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared menory realm does not exit
Linux Error:2:No such file or directory　　　　　　

你安装的到底是8i还是9i，看起来似乎是8i

在使用之前必须先启动Oracle

1) lsnrctl start
2) sqlplus internal
3) startup
