关于mysql4.1.3与php的连接

MYSQL是4.1.3版本.我用PHP的MYSQL_CONNECT()连接时产生了错误提示"Warning: mysql_connect(): Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client ",在4.0版本下没有这个问题,该如何解决?需要升级PHP?现在是4.3.7
